Movers and Shakers Exhibit
at POVevolving
The "Movers and Shakers" show at POVevolving Gallery on Chung King Road in Chinatown is just that. It moves and it shakes...the art world that is!
With paintings and drawings of over 80 artists the show
takes on an incredible movement head on.
The genre is often referred to as 'pop surrealism' or
'low brow art' which takes the thoughts and ideas
of the work back to the car culture and pop era and has been around for at least 10 years, as an underground movement.
Currated by Gino Joukar, the artists represented cover
a broad range of this movement. With artists as Dave Pressler, Johnny "KMNDZ" Rodriguez, Tessar Lo, Sean Christopher, Jasmine Worth, Amy Casey and this writer's personal favorites Amy Sol, Kukula, Yosuke Ueno, and Melissa Haslam the movement is perfectly represented.
This is an exciting direction for art and one
that needs to break out of the constraints of how
we perceive painting and drawing. Not only are these exhibiting artists (and several not exhibited here) true to their thoughts and dreams but have their skill set in place.
Gallery owner and Arts District resident, Jeremy Mora continues to raise the bar with his gallery exhibits,
and this one is no exception.
The gallery is located at 939 Chung King Road with full details at www.povevolving.com
